Abstract: Compression algorithms are an important part of storing and delivering large images such as those obtained at high resolutions using cameras. We propose a lossy algorithm that uses iterative clustering algorithms to reduce storage requirements for images while still preserving quality in large images. Our algorithm is competitive with standard methods and provides a parsimonious model for representing the images.
